Yves Saint Laurent Museum
Musée Yves Saint Laurent
The Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Paris, recently inaugurated on October 3, 2017, presents dresses, accessories, costume sketches, photos and videos to the public in a 450 m² exhibition space. The museum, dedicated to one of the most iconic designers of the 20th century, is located in a Second Empire mansion, where the YSL’s teams worked for 30 years. The highlights include the reception rooms formerly open to clients, more than 5,000 dresses prototypes and the Studio, the center where all the collections were designed. For an amazing stay in Paris we offer you the most elegant Luxury Apartments that we have distributed throughout the city so you can enjoy comfort, design and security that BE APARTMENT provides you.
The Yves Saint Laurent Museum was open in Paris less than a month after the death of Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent’s partner and business manager. The museum is spread out over 2 floors. The ground floor begins with haute couture introducing us to the intense needlework and bejewelling that is so typical for YSL. You will see an entire wall dedicated to sketches, fabric samples, notes and photos of fittings; a moodboard of Yves Saint Laurent’s creative portraits, chalk drawings of elaborately dressed dancers and models - showing not only his inspiration but his artistic talent. There is also collection of accessories, from hair decoration to broaches and buttons. Stars, comets, and hearts are amongst the most famous details.
The first floor of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum holds the real treasure: the YSL studio. Having been the heart of 5 avenue Marceau for over 30 years, the atelier has been kept in perfect condition, with fabrics, accessories, drawings added by Yves Saint Laurent’s collaborators that knew him best. The recreated designer’s desk is an emotive experience, dropping you deep in the spirit of the house’s history.
